About Pearl iZUMi
Originally from Tokyo, Pearl iZUMi was started in 1950 when a man named Kinji Shimizu delivered clothing to a village via bicycle. Later, in 1964 Kinji's son Hiro was a member of Japan's cycling team and just so happened to win a raffle for a special italian-made jersey that was very much unlike the cotton cycling kit of the time.
After this, Kinji obsessively researched and tested new materials and made new kit for his son. Fast-forward to the modern day and Pearl iZUMi is the number one apparel and cycling footwear sponsor of USA Triathlon.
