About Castelli
For cyclists everywhere, brightly colored and breathable lycra is a staple. How could we ride comfortably without it? Well, if not for Maurizio Castelli we may have had to do just that. Castelli was founded in 1974 and the now famous scorpion was chosen for the logo. Lycra was introduced in 1977 and Maurizio was among the first to experiment with sublimated dyes that allow technical fabrics to be colored.
Castelli cycling clothing has been worn by many champions over the years such as Eddie Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and 1996 Olympic gold medalist in mountain biking Paola Pezzo. Castelli has been forward thinking since the start. In 1996 they introduces the first women’s specific road line of cycling clothing.
Castelli now sponsors Team Sky in cycling and triathletes like Timothy O’Donnell and Frederik Van Lierde.
